MemFeast 4: V&E Greenline Public Art Project
Saturday, May 18, 7 pm
at the V&E Greenline at Tutwiler and Avalon
Crosstown Arts is excited to announce plans for MemFeast 4 on May 18th. This installment of MemFeast will be a collaboration of Crosstown Arts, the V&E Greenline Committee, and Vollintine Evergreen Community Association (VECA).
If you are new to the FEAST concept, it is a public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund emerging art makers. MemFeast is the local version that Crosstown Arts founded a few years ago; resulting projects have ranged from public sculpture to short films. Anyone from the community can buy a ticket for the locally sourced dinner, which also includes drinks and a ballot. During the meal, a selected group of local artists/designers and other creative-minded Memphians will make presentations of their proposals. At the end of the evening, the audience votes for their favorite idea and the project with the most votes is awarded $5,000 (generated from the ticket sales and other sponsorships) to create the work.
For more information, to purchase tickets, or to submit an idea, please visit their website.
This is NOT an MRDC event.
