50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATING DREAMS

More than 50 years ago, community leaders in our region had a vision to bring post-secondary education to northwestern Alberta.  A vision that led to Grande Prairie Regional College opening its doors to serve the first class of 119 students in 1966. That was more than three times the 35 students expected. Today, GPRC serves 10,000 students per year with a wide range of certificate or diploma options, trades programs, university studies and collaborative degree programs with four-year universities.

We've celebrated this milestone over the past year, and we aren't quite done yet! We invite you to take a look at what has taken place over the last year, and how you can still be part of our celebration of 50 years of student success!

Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project Update

Work has now recommenced on the
Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project.

Road Closures and Traffic Accommodation
The intersection of 101 St. and 101 Ave. is now closed to vehicle traffic due to construction.

Vehicle access on 101 Ave. from 102 St. and 100 St. is anticipated to remain open, but traffic is being re-routed in a cul-de-sac (turn-around) style at the intersection of 101 St. on either side.

Parking is not available in the fenced off area of 101 St., and reduced at certain locations across 101 Ave.

Construction Details
Surface removal work, consisting of concrete curb, paving brick and asphalt removals, has begun. Fencing is being installed on 101 St. from north of 100 Ave. to the laneway between 101 Ave. and 102 Ave. (north side of the Farmers Market). Excavation work follows shortly after.

For More Information
For more information and to sign up for a Weekly Update e-newsletter on the project, visit cityofgp.com/ourdowntown.

All downtown businesses remain open during construction.
