Church of God's 'Operation Compassion' and 'God's Pit Crew' were en route to the affected areas in Texas as of Monday morning. "With Hurricane Harvey bearing down on my home state of Texas, I am calling upon our Church of God family to pray for those whose lives have been and will be disrupted by this massive storm," says Hill.
Assemblies of God USA South Texas District Secretary Treasurer Don Wiehe reported on Facebook that Hill Country Camp and Conference Center hosted over 150 ministers and constituents that fled the storm. "Many of our churches were not able to meet this weekend for service. We do know of these churches in the direct path of Harvey: Rockport 75% destroyed, Port Lavaca, Port O'Connor, and Sea Drift. Churches in Houston have 3 to 4 feet of water in their worship center and have been severely affected by massive amounts of rain that sustained much damage."
Church of God of Prophecy Texas Overseer Bishop Scott Gillum said on Facebook, "Mandatory evacuations are underway in Matagorda county due to an intentional water release. In Bay City, they have said there will be as much as 10 feet of water downtown, and no emergency assistance. Our Oak Glen Church with Pastor Willie and Araceli is still taking on water, while they are pumping it out. Our pastor at Port Lavaca, Willie and Diana Espinoza are headed back after mandatory evacuations, to review the damage. They will send us information at that time. Our Pasadena, pastor Tony and Faye Pittman are setting up a relief command center for the Cajun Army from LA. to distribute needed supplies."
These member groups have informed PCCNA of their efforts. Open Bible Churches, Church of God and

The Memphis Chapter of the PCCNA recently co-hosted a special collaborative prayer time for the city and the nation in light of the events in Charlottesville, VA. The group is concerned about the division in our county, especially the racial tensions and violence. They said, "We don't want to see trouble in our city, so we decided to be proactive in prayer. As PCCNA, we should lead the way in prayer and reconciliation."
The local chapter of PCCNA joined with several other Christian networks in the region for urgent prayer. There was also a time of honest dialogue among the different groups about racial tension and how to deal with differences in positive ways. There was repentance, spontaneous worship and praise, as well as heartfelt prayer for the state of race relations in Memphis and in America. People who attended said they were encouraged to see how God will move in the future through the prayers of His people. - Carol Leake
