PHONE SCAM ALERT
UPPCO Issues Phone Scam Warning to Customers
Upper Peninsula Power Company is urging its customers, including business
customers, to be aware of scammers who may call them posing as UPPCO
representatives.
Recently, several customers have reported being contacted and informed
that they owe money to UPPCO and will have their power turned off unless payment is
made immediately with a pre-paid credit card.
Upper Peninsula Power Company will
never require anyone to purchase a pre-paid credit card for payment.
Any UPPCO customer who receives a suspicious call should not provide any private
information, account or banking information.
If you are not sure if it is UPPCO,
hang up and call UPPCO at 800-562- 7680.
If possible, write down any information the
caller provides including the call date and time, phone number to call back and any
information showing up on caller ID. It is also important to understand that if a customer
is behind on their bill they will receive a notice in the mail from UPPCO.

TruNorth General Manager Awarded MCUL Distinguished Service Award
George Isola, General Manager of TruNorth Federal Credit Union, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for the Michigan Credit Union League's UP Chapter.
The Chapter met April 8 in Escanaba, where he was awarded this honor. Each year, the Distinguished Service Award recognizes service to the credit union movement that reaches beyond the recipient's individual credit union.
George has been the General Manager of TruNorth Federal Credit Union (formerly Ishpeming Community Federal CU) since 1992.

NON-STOP AIR SERVICE RETURNS TO SAWYER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Last week Delta Airlines and The County of Marquette teamed up with the Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) to celebrate the return of non-stop air service from Sawyer International Airport (MQT) to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) on SkyWest Airlines, operating as Delta Connection. The newly returned connection will be available seven days a week. Airport Manager Duane DuRay (and GINCC Board Member) cut the ribbon in celebration!
