Soliciting in Unincorporated Lake County

Solicitors seeking door-to-door purchases or orders are required to comply with a County Board adopted ordinance when working in unincorporated Lake County. Each solicitor must:

  • Appear in person and register annually with  the Lake County Building and Zoning office. Registration is free.
  • Work only between the hours of 11 am and 7 pm.
  • Carry his/her own Certificate of Registration bearing the sales person’s name, employer’s name, manufacturer’s name, type of business, and an embossed seal.
  • Observe “No Solicitation” signs.
  • Respect occupant’s request if asked to leave.

Residents should ask to see the vendor’s certificate and report any violations to the Lake County Sheriff’s office (847.549.5200) where fines and penalties can be enforced. Finding A Lost Pension

I have encouraged you to check with the State of Illinois to see if they are holding your funds at www.icash.illinoistreasurer.gov/   One of our Fremont residents found $12,000, and the last time I posted this I heard from Debbie in Mundelein that she found $700.00. I had money there as did 3 of our children, my sister and some of my friends.  Please check it to see if the state has your money. Let me know if you find money too!!!!

I just learned about a site that has unclaimed pensions.  I had never heard of this site before now, but there is a lot of money being held in unclaimed pensions.  Click here

Dispose of Your Prescription Drugs

I recently spoke with a 21 year old recovering heroin addict who told me how he and his friends started taking drugs in the 7th grade by going in medicine cabinets and taking vicodin, oxycodone and other drugs.  Don't assume it can't happen to your children and grandchildren.  Have you checked your medicine cabinet lately and disposed of the prescriptions you don't use?   Please make it a priority to  go through your medicines and dispose of them.  Most of our police stations have drop off boxes for the drugs.  Please click here to find the location nearest you.
