Sassy Stitches!

My family and I have been going to Fat Buddies of Franklin since it opened.  Chuck and his family and employees always provide excellent service and the best BBQ around.  When I went to lunch with a friend last week, this was set up at the front of the restaurant. It touched me so I wanted to share it with you.  In memory of those who paid the ultimate price and to their families and friends,
THANK YOU!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
We sure had a lot of rain last week.  I love how it greens-up our beautiful Western North Carolina mountains!  Lots of folks came in the shop to gather fabric and other items to sew the rainy days away. One customer decided she needed a new machine!  You go, girl!  But do we really need an excuse to make a new quilt? Heavens, no!!
========================================
Sassy Stitches will be open on Memorial Day. A few of us didn't have plans so we decided to open. (Don't tell anybody but we actually play and work at the same time. Shhh!) SO, we are offering a Free Shop Sew Day on Memorial Day!  If you would like to come spend your day off sewing in our nice, big classroom where you can use our cutting table, irons, and other supplies, give us a call to reserve a spot.  The hours for sewing will be 10:00 - 3:00. Bring a lunch or order out. This is FREE to our customers but you still need to sign up.  Just give us a call or send me an email and we will put you on the list! AND here's one more bonus!

It's time for DOUBLE PUNCHES! This coming Friday, Saturday, and Monday, you will receive DOUBLE PUNCHES on your Sassy Cash customer reward tags when you purchase regularly priced items. Of course sewing machine, classes, consignment items, and sale items are excluded. Don't have a Sassy Cash Tag? This is the perfect time to start one! Earn $25 of store credit when you fill a tag!! This offer is good on May 26th, 27th, and 29th. Come see us!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beginning on Tuesday, May 30, Sassy Stitches will be open from 10: 00 until 5:00 during the week. Our Saturday hours will remain the same.  10:00 - 2:00
----------------------------------------------------------------
Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if
you're not in a club, just come sew! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!
Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

Janice Pope will be teaching a class at Sassy Stitches where she will share with you everything you need to know about binding.  You will need to bring something to bind so be thinking about that and make plans to save something just for this class!
Quilting since 1977, students attending her classes describe Janice as passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging. Whether teaching one of her simple quilt patterns, bag patterns, or a technique', novice as well as experienced quilters will leave with new insight and skills.
An award winning quilter who has taught both domestically and internationally, Janice resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband of 35+ years and enjoys having two of her six grandsons nearby. Check out her website at Anything But Boring.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris Eichner will be teaching her beautiful Shredded Art Class at Sassy Stitches on Tuesday, August 8.  More details on this class a little later.
New Rulers!
W e have the new rulers, rotary cutters, and mats from Quilters Select!  Y'all, these rulers WILL NOT slide or slip.  I have never seen anything like this!!!!!  You need to come try one out to see for yourself.  They are SEW amazing!  I bought one of the rulers a few months ago to try for myself.  I will never use anything else!  The rotary cutter is weighted and lessens the pressure you have to use to cut fabric.  AND it's ambidextrous!  The same rotary cutter is used for left handed or right handed folks.  The cutting mat is a little thicker than most and get this . . . it's reversible!  It's like buying two mats at one time!  The numbers for measuring on both the rulers and the mats go both ways.  In other words, you don't have to keep turning the ruler or count backwards on your mat!  Here is a link to their website.  Alex Anderson designed these awesome tools. Come by to try them out and check out the website for more into!

Show & Tell
Diane has been busy finishing some of her quilts!

We got in some beautiful Christmas fabric with cardinals.

We just love these little pattern  from "Little Bits!"

Another beautiful project shared by a customer.  Don't you love these borders?

SO good to see Nancy and we loved her awesome machine applique' quilt done on her Janome 15,000!

Rebekah worked relentlessly for days on this cute fabric curtain to put around our sewing machine table. She used strips of scraps to create this awesome scrappy skirt!  It's exactly what I wanted. THANK you, Bekah!!!!!  You did a wonderful job!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
