Summer Sunday School Needs YOUR Help!
Thank you for serving! Sign-up online here for the class/dates you would like to co-teach - one or more than one as your schedule permits. There will be two volunteers per class with the exception of the 2 year old class where parents attend with their kids, so you don't have to go it alone. A reminder e-mail will be sent and a copy of the lesson for each class you sign up for will be provided along with the Guidelines for Summer Sunday School. Must be 17 years old or older to sign up. Must sign MLC Youth Protection Policy prior to teaching. If we do not have all spaces filled by SUNDAY, 29 May, then classes for Summer will be cancelled. Questions? Contact Rev. Gaub 713 782 4022 Chairman, Board of Parish Education.
From the Pastor
"Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy"
In Sunday's reading from the Gospel of St. Luke, Jesus is asked to heal the servant of a Centurion, who was friendly with the Jewish community in Capernaum.  Upon hearing this request, Jesus travels to the Centurion's home with the presumed purpose of healing the servant.  Before Jesus could even enter the home (not a typical practice for Jews), the Centurion stops the men on the road and says: "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof."   The Centurion is correct.  He is not worthy.  The reason why Jesus comes to him is not because of the worthiness of the Centurion, but because of worthiness of the Christ (Revelation 5).  Jesus marvels at the faith of the Centurion, who confesses Jesus as Lord.  We marvel at that faith also and the Lord, who troubles himself for us and for our salvation.
