BBQ & YOU
Join us for a Friendship BBQ honoring the new members we have gained and welcome our teachers and school families back to school. THIS Sunday, 23 August, 12:30 PM- 2:00 PM.

We are also looking for a few good Lutherans to help with clean-up afterward. If you can help, join us in the kitchen around 1:45 PM. Remember many hands make for light work! We need your help!

From the Pastor
A Call to Repentance
Thou shalt not ... pollute unless you buy carbon credits, change our slogans, deflate footballs, or offend our sensibilities.  These are just a few of the commandments of men that make the news in our day.  The effect of such attention to man-made rules is that they tend to overshadow the commandments of God.  In Jesus day, the Pharisees were offended that Jesus and His disciples did not observe their rules for religious purity.  So much emphasis did they put on their own rules that they had no time or recollection of God's commandments.  Not only did the Pharisees give priority to their own commandments, they allowed them to replace and supplant God's commandments.  Of course, our Lord could hardly let such insolence stand.  Yet, His confrontation was not just a correction but a call to repentance- a call to put away such arrogant presumption.  His call echoes down to our day, too, calling us to confess our own foolhardy effrontery to God's wisdom and to hear again His assurance, "Your sins are forgiven," through God's beloved Son who kept God's commandments perfectly for you.
