The 2016 Houston Marathon  is THIS Sunday 17 January. To avoid detours when coming from the Memorial, Post Oak, Galleria, and Inner Loop areas just east of the church. It appears the best ways to bypass the marathon would be to take either I-59 and exit Chimney Rock to work your way north, or I-10 and exit Voss and work your way East towards the church. You can view a large version of the race map Online here.

A Lot of Wine
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim.-John 2:7

That is a lot of wine.  John tells us that Jesus had the servants fill six stone water jars each holding 20 to 30 gallons, then He turned the water into wine.  Why so much?  Well, He certainly didn't want the family to run out of wine again, but neither did He want the joy and gladness of this special occasion to be interrupted or diminished.

John refers to this as the first of Jesus' signs by which He manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.  By this sign and others Jesus revealed Himself as the Son of God who brings joy and gladness in abundance.  Through sacramental water and wine He brings forgiveness of sins sufficient to cover the sins of all people from all times and places.

And by His signs, Jesus foreshadows the heavenly wedding feast wherein He and His bride, the church, will enjoy the richest of fare and well-aged wine (Isaiah 25:6).  There the abundance of His grace and mercy will wipe every tear from our eyes, and we shall have the life He brings and have it in unending abundance (John 10:10).
