Dear MLC Members:
Cantor Janet Muth has accepted the call to serve St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, Hamel Illinois.  She will be closer to her mother and her sister, who live nearby.

Thanks to all those who supported and prayed for Cantor Muth during this decision-making process.  It was not an easy decision to leave Memorial, which has been her home for 17 years.

We will greatly miss Cantor Muth's amazing musical talent and her dedication to the music programs for the congregation and the school.   May God bless her as she prepares to move to Illinois.

Cantor's last official Sunday is June 11. Please come say goodbye, at a breakfast in honor of Cantor, between the services (9:30 AM) on 11 June.

A Place in Heaven With the Father
On the 40th day after Easter Sunday (yesterday), we celebrated our Lord's Ascension to the Father.  It seems strange that we would celebrate Jesus' departure.  How could this possibly be a good thing?  The reason why Jesus' Ascension to the Father is a good thing is because of what results.  First, he goes to prepare a place for us, a place in Heaven with the Father.  Second, since he is going to prepare a place, he will surely return to take us there.  Finally, once Jesus has ascended, the Holy Spirit will be sent to us, who, working through the Word and the Sacraments (our Lord's continued presence among us), brings us to faith and trust in Jesus and the forgiveness of our sins.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
