VBS Update
Vacation Bible School took place 15-19 June at MLC. 125 students enrolled for the week. Approximately 75 of these students were from our school's summer program. The others were friends or members of MLC.
The theme for this year's VBS was the Lord's Prayer. Each day we opened and closed with hymns and prayers in the sanctuary. Between the hymns and prayers, our time was divided between instruction, music, games, and snacks.
VBS is a great opportunity for our congregation to teach the Faith. It is also a great opportunity to serve. Special thanks to both David and Hilda Kunz, who directed this year's program; to the Parish Education board; and to all the other teachers and helpers (especially MLC Youth and Young adults), who helped supply our needs. Your combined efforts made for a great week!

It is amazing that we as humans, sinners, and creatures of God can be surprised by any of the His miraculous actions. He has knit us together in the womb, worked all of creation out of nothing, condescended himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ, suffered all humiliation by putting the sin of the world to death on the cross, raised himself from the dead, and saved all of humanity from its sin caused death, and we still have trouble accepting the fact that he has no limitations. In our reading from Mark we can see the disciples battling the shock of seeing a glimpse of the true divine power of Jesus. He calms a storm, but this is as nothing compared to the true miracle that Jesus has accomplished: to rescue the entire human race, past, present, and future from death. Who is this that even the wind and sea obey him? This is the God of all creation. He is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Nothing he does should ever surprise us, but always amaze us.

The MLC Telugu community is very happy to be part of the church family. Telugu people are actively worshipping at Memorial and receiving God's precious gifts of Word and Sacraments. Our group is steadily growing and more are becoming involved in church activities. Recently, the MLC Telugu community launched its Facebook page. This page is attracting new people and becoming a great tool for communication. The Facebook page is under "Telugu Association of Houston." Please feel free to like us on Facebook. The Telugu people are eager to build and grow a healthy confessional community of God's people and are thankful to all the saints at Memorial who make this possible! Please don't forget to read the Telugu financial updates on the back of church bulletins. Currently, our goal is to raise $2,869.00 through June for our immediate needs. We also continue to appreciate your prayers, support, and encouragement.
