LWIM- BIG Meeting THIS Week!
Sunday, 19 November
Immediately following late service
Church Library
Ladies - please join us for a social lunch and a general meeting. We need to vote on the distribution of our
funds to the selected missions. We are also looking for a few women to be on the board for 2018. Do you have ideas to improve our group? Please bring them to the meeting. If you are interested in helping out, please let Janet Taylor or Heather Coulter know.
From the Pastor
Anxiety
Luther's insight that the gospel responds to anxiety is helpful. We live in an age filled with anxiety. We're anxious about our government, our finances, our sexuality, our place in the world, our relationship with our church, with our pastor, and with our family. In Houston, we are suffering the anxiety caused by the hurricane and flooding. I know we are feeling it; I am feeling it too. Anxiety is not new. Even the people in Paul's missionary congregation in Thessalonica felt anxiety about the approach of Christ to judge the living and the dead. "So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober....Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing" (1 Th 5:6 and 11). Paul's encouragement is to stay in the game and encourage one another. I am looking forward to seeing you Sunday, so we can encourage one another with Christ.
