Give Blood, Give Life- 7 May!
The last few Mays, we held blood drives and MLC members had all-time record donations in honor of our very own Luke George. We are doing it again THIS SUNDAY, 7 May, in celebration of Luke's health! We have room for walk-ins so please consider donating blood on Sunday or sign-up today for your preferred time by responding to this email.
From the Vicar
Christ the True Shepherd
In John 10, Jesus says that He is the shepherd of the sheep. We, like sheep, are prone to wander. But, in our Baptism, Christ has made us part of His sheepfold and He draws us near to Him. Because we are members of His flock, He tends to us and takes care of us. He is not like the thief, who only comes to kill and destroy. He is the true Shepherd who has come to take care of His sheep and bring them life to abundance.

Pastor Wokoma Speaks
Thank you to all who in the time of my crisis came to my aid, with prayers, with phone calls, emails, and with financial support as a result of the letter that I received from Office of International Mission (OIM) stating that I was dangerously underfunded. The condition is still extremely critical as I not only have to make up the very large deficit in my funding account, but I also have to raise the necessary funds for the next fiscal year which starts July 2017. If I am not able to do so, I might be withdrawn from the field for a semester or more to raise funds, which considering the very, very short-handed faculty of only two full-time staff, this would be dire. You do realize that even with the help of our most recent two renowned visiting professors from the LCMS, Rev. Peter C. Bender, and Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray, I still taught six courses in addition to the many other hats I wear for both the Seminary community and LCN. Imagine the damage of being away for six months straight. Any prayers and all financial support at this time is so important, and the need for regular supporting congregations is also crucial. Thank you.
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
