From the Vicar

Isn't it amazing how God's Word works? You can read the same passage over and over, and over again. Then one day, the text will reveal itself to you in a way that you had never even considered before. This is the joy of coming to church on Sunday, being in the place where God speaks to his people and reveals the meaning of scripture. He does not leave us guessing at what his Word is saying; he is present with us, showing us the truth.
It's easy for us to feel frustration at passages such as this reading from Luke 24:36-49 . We react with sentiments like, "Why can't Jesus be with me and reveal the mysteries of scriptures to me, directly? The disciples were lucky." But we must remember that this is precisely what he does for us. He is truly present with us, giving us his body and blood, forgiving our sins, and giving us the saving Word, that same Word given to the disciples in our reading. Church is truly a wonderful place!
