From the Pastor
Gentile Christmas!

Epiphany is sometimes called the Gentile Christmas. It celebrates the disclosure of the Christmas gift through the preaching of the Gospel to the Gentiles. This makes it our Christmas because the birth of Christ would have been useless if God had not made provision for us to know it. The proclamation of the condescension of God to us in the person of Christ is what saves. God is willing not only to send His Son, but ever after to give Him to us along with His benefits in the proclamation of the divine Word. Christ has come. He has come for us.

Who's New?

Emanuel Kiyola was born and raised in a strong Christian family in Tanzania, East Africa. His dream to come to the United States came true after he won a Green Card Lottery in 2006. Emanuel moved to Houston, Texas shortly after and began the long process of immigration to bring his family to Houston. In 2011, the entire Kiyola family arrived in the United States.

Emanuel and his wife, Eva have been blessed with 5 children: Boys: Noel (college), William (12th Grade) and Nimrod (4th grade); and Girls: Angelina (college) and Lydia (8th

grade). The family enjoys movies, eating out, and watching sports. Angelina and Lydia volunteer and sing here at MLC.

In Tanzania, Emanuel's family worshipped at the Lutheran church in Dar es Salaam and after visiting Memorial a few times, became a member in May 2009. The Kiyola family are happy to be members of MLC and Emanuel thanks the congregation for their prayers and the warm welcome he and his family have received.

Please give a warm hello to and get to know the lovely Kiyola family. We are glad they are here!

Luke George Update

One of our young members, Luke George has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia. The George family has provided an update concerning his treatment.

Luke has clinic visits every Friday that include blood work and a chemo infusion line into his arm as well as a spinal tap. Sometimes this means he is at the hospital for much of the day. Luke is doing well most days and is such a little trooper, according to his mother, Dana. He is reacting well to the treatments and chemo, though he does have some nausea. When he is feeling well, Luke is enjoying the company of his siblings who are very sweet with their brother. The family hopes to have an update in late January on how his cancer is responding to the treatment.

Your prayers for Luke and the George family are greatly appreciated.
