From the Pastor
"Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world" (Galatians 6:14). To make sense of the suffering of the Savior, we need to recognize and believe that we need to be rescued from the depths of our depravity. It is a miracle of God's Word that we should be aware of our total and deathly sinfulness. Only those who know their need will be able to say that His suffering and death are "for me." Here is the faith which the cross both solicits and gives. Those who trust that the One who is crucified are settled in Christ's salvation.
Sunday's Scripture Readings

Genesis 22:1-18

Who's New?
John and Debbie Whittington are two of our newest members. They were officially welcomed at our most recent New Member Sunday. They were searching for a church that taught law and Gospel and practiced word and sacrament and found both here at Memorial Lutheran. Debbie is a middle school math teacher and John is a financial advisor. The Whittingtons have two grown daughters and two amazing grandchildren. They are happy to be part of the fellowship here at MLC and we are certainly happy they are here. Welcome!
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray

Looking to Serve at MLC?

Please consider providing or teaming up to provide a Lenten Lunch. Lenten Lunch attendance is around 20 members and requires set-up before the noon service lets out (~1:00 PM) and subsequent clean-up directly after. Dates that are available are 25 February, 4 March, and 25 March. Please help us fill this need!  If you are able to help, please contact the church office at 713 782 6079.
