God Stands Behind His Word
The theme of our Lenten services (Wednesday, noon and 7:00 PM) is the Sacrament of the Altar. The Lutheran Church's teaching on the Supper is very simple. Jesus says, "This is my body." This statement means that the bread distributed at His own command from the altar of our churches is His body. How? By the power of the Word of God. Beyond that, we have no idea how. But that's really true of the main teachings of the Bible. How can Christ be God and man? How could God die? I don't know. I only know what God has said has happened in the incarnation and at the death of Christ on the cross. God said it. We believe it. God stands behind His Word.
