Sing and Give Joy With MLC Carolers!
Please join us after second service Sunday 20 December as we go caroling to our shut-ins.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
We will meet in the Narthex directly after second service, go for a quick lunch at Jason's Deli, and then meet back at the church to begin the route. Music and Maps will be provided. We will make 2 stops.
From the Pastor
God's Word at Christmas
Only God's Word can tell us that this child is the incarnate Word of God. Thus the feast of the incarnation has very little to offer us apart from a careful and thoughtful study of God's telling of the story itself. There is no knowing the incarnate Word apart from His written Word. Yet the story is full of deep mysteries; not the least of which is that God has exchanged His own blessed Son for poor sinners like us. How could God have so treasure the likes of us that He was willing to exchange his own dearest treasure? Think, then, how remarkable the exchange is! How exalted we have become through Christ and through faith in Him! Our ordinary birth becomes His and His exalted birth becomes ours through the rebirth of the font. Everything is made new by the birth of this one Child.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
Micah 5:2-5a
Hymns: 670, 357, 954, 934, 361, 935
The Quempas Carol is a beautiful tradition dating back to Medieval times. The choir is stationed at the four corners of the sanctuary, symbolizing the proclamation of the Good News of Christ's birth to the four corners of the world. Part of the choir also sings the story of Christ's birth from the balcony. This is a simple, beautiful way to sing with the choir! If you are interested in singing the Quempas Carol at the 10:00 PM candlelight Service on Christmas Eve, or would like more information, please contact Cantor Muth via email or at 713 782 6079. Older children and adults are encouraged to participate!
