From the Pastor
Godly Fear and Trust
"Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid." There are two sorts of fear. One sort is godly; the other is not. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," Solomon writes. "We should fear, love and trust in God above all things," the Catechism teaches us. This fear is godly fear. The Law works this fear in our hearts but it is also worked in us by faith that comes from the Word preached to us.
The fear of the disciples, a fear which thinks the Lord a ghost, the fear of Peter which does not trust in Christ, this is sinful fear. This fear is yours too. Fears of heights, fears of betrayal, fears of abandonment, daily fear afflicts the conscience of the sinner. It is fear rooted ultimately in doubt. Doubt is rooted in unbelief. Repent. Christ has come to give you faith by his Word and with this faith, courage built solely on him, the Son of God.  Trust and fear this one, firm in your faith.

Double Your Giving
One of our generous member families has given another gift of $20,000 for our Telugu ministry and a $20,000 gift towards Pastor Wokoma's mission. The gift is given to be matched and will be released for the use of the ministry on a dollar for dollar basis. If you love the these outreaches and want to double your gift, this is a great opportunity. Every dollar you give becomes two dollars. What's not to like?
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
