LWIM Meeting This Sunday

From the Pastor
Happy Ascension Day

On the 40th day after Easter Sunday, we will celebrate our Lord's Ascension.  It seems strange that we would celebrate Jesus' departure.  How could this possibly be a good thing?  The reason why Jesus' Ascension to the Father is a good thing is because of what he tells us will result.  First, that he goes to prepare a place for us, a place in Heaven with the Father.  Second, since he is going to prepare a place, he will surely return to take us there.  Finally, once he has ascended, the Holy Spirit will be sent to us, who, working through the means of grace, will bring us to know and be in communion with Jesus.  In this sense, although Jesus has ascended, he remains with us and we with him.  Happy Ascension Day!

Who's New?

Prabhu Kishore and Syamala Yadavalli hail from Andhra Pradesh, India.  Aaradhya is their six month old baby girl.

Both Prabhu and Syamala hold a Master's degree in Business Administration.  After working in India for some time, Prabhu took his SAP training and migrated to the United States.  Currently Prabhu is working in the IT industry and looking for further employment opportunities to advance his career. The family has been attending MLC and are in Telugu Adult Instruction classes.

Prabhu and Syamala affirmed the Lutheran faith and intend to become members of Memorial. They believe that the Telugu community in Houston will be greatly benefited by our MLC Telugu Ministry.

Welcome Prabhu, Syamala & Aaradhya. We look forward to seeing you here at MLC.

Nicaragua Clothing Collection

The Nicaragua mission team is seeking donations of warm-weather children's clothing to take to Nicaragua on 3 June. Many of the children we work with have only one set of clothing and no shoes. Your used warm-weather children's clothing will be an incredible blessing to these children. Please bring your donation to the church on any Sunday during May. These can be given directly to John Coulter. Please contact John at 832 264 4017 [email protected] with any questions you have regarding the Nicaragua mission.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
