From the Vicar
Recognizing Jesus

Alleluia!  Christ is risen!  He is risen indeed, alleluia!  This Sunday we hear another account of Jesus appearing to His followers after His resurrection.  Two of Jesus' followers were traveling to Emmaus.  He joins them on the road, but they couldn't recognize him.  It wasn't until Jesus unraveled the Scriptures and broke bread.  Our doubts veil our eyes from recognizing Jesus.  Through preaching and the Eucharist, Jesus opens our eyes so that we may recognize Jesus and proclaim with the disciples, "The Lord is risen indeed!"

Who's New?

The Schwarz family joined MLC after Carsten began attending Memorial Lutheran School. Chrysti grew up in Houston and Dallas, but considers herself a Houstonian! Chrysti is an Operations Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle in their Project and Development Services group.  She also holds the position of Chairman for their Community Connections Team.  Carsten-Uwe is in fourth grade and plays soccer at West Houston Soccer Club.  The Schwarz's are big soccer supporters and looking forward to the World Cup this summer.

This Week's Scriptural Lessons
Nicaragua Clothing Collection

The Nicaragua mission team is seeking donations of warm-weather children's clothing to take to Nicaragua this summer.  Many of the children we work with have only one set of clothing and no shoes.  Your used warm-weather children's clothing will be an incredible blessing to these children.  Please bring your donation to the church on any Sunday during May.  These can be given directly to John Coulter.  Please contact John at 832 264 4017 or at John.S.Coulter@gmail.com with any questions you have regarding the Nicaragua mission.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
