In Season & Out of Season
As social creatures, we care about how others view us. Social awareness is necessary to a certain extent, but we cannot allow it to become our god. God calls us to proclaim His Word in season and out of season, that is, whether or not we or our neighbors like what it says. He also calls us to live in the world, but not according to its ways. Such living can cause our coworkers, friends, and family to reject us.
When people reject us for the faith, we are not alone. Our Lord was also rejected, suffering the humiliating death of a pariah outside of the city, for proclaiming and for doing what His Father had told Him. We are not alone when we are cast out of the city, for there dwells the one who welcomes us into His heavenly city.
