Thanksgiving Meal Being Planned

Once again, we are asking for your help in serving our less fortunate brothers and sisters in our Houston community at a Thanksgiving meal at Memorial Lutheran Church this Thanksgiving Day.  We will need the help of the entire congregation in order to make this a success.  We at Memorial have been abundantly blessed and this is one small way of sharing God's many blessings.  If you wish to volunteer, make a donation or want more information please see Wayne Murray at the table in the commons between worship services or contact Wayne or Arlene at home, 281 240 9644,  or  [email protected]

From the Pastor
Last Sundays

The three Sundays following All Saints Day are collectively known as "the Last Sundays of the Church Year."  These final Sundays don't just take up space between All Saints and Advent, but have a real purpose.  In the same way that they come at the end of our annual church time, so they remind us of the end of all time when our Lord will return.   Without Jesus' return, Christianity could easily become a kind of philosophy or a way of looking at life.  What the Last Sundays call our attention to is the fact that we are being led through time to the Last Day.  In this sense, we already know what lies in the future: Jesus.  Jesus will be there on the Last Day ending this sin-stained world, delivering us from our sins, and bringing all the faithful to His Kingdom which has no end.

Who's New ?
Hugh Travis Pernoud is one of our newest MLC members. He was born 26 August and baptized here at Memorial on 7 September. Hugh's parents, Jeff and Tessa, have been members for about 5 years and his grandparents were members back in the late 70's when they were in Houston for their residencies. Hugh is a sweet, smiley baby and loves eating, being read to, and cuddling.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
