Thanksgiving Help
Once again, we are asking for your help in serving our less fortunate brothers and sisters in our Houston community at a Thanksgiving meal at Memorial Lutheran Church this Thanksgiving Day.  We will need the help of the entire congregation in order to make this a success.  We at Memorial have been abundantly blessed and this is one small way of sharing God's many blessings.  If you wish to volunteer, make a donation or want more information please see Wayne Murray at the table in the commons between worship services or contact Wayne or Arlene at home, 281 240 9644,  or   click to email
From the Pastor
Listen to Jesus
In this Sunday's reading from the Gospel, Jesus calls us to beware of the Scribes.  In other places, our Lord warns us to beware of the Pharisees.  If we are to take these words to heart, we must learn the meaning of these warnings.  For both Scribes and Pharisees, keeping the Law is what made one right with God.  There is truth here.  If a person were to keep the law perfectly, he would be right with God.   The problem is we do not and we cannot keep the Law because of our sin.  Jesus calls us to beware of Scribes and Pharisees because they do not understand who we are under the law, and, because they do not understand this, they cannot understand why Jesus came: to save sinners (1 Tim. 1).  Beware of the Scribes and the Pharisees.  Listen to Jesus.
