From the Pastor
Last Christmas Day!
This Sunday is the Presentation of our Lord; 40 days after Christmas when the church celebrates the occasion recorded in Luke 2:22-39. Jesus was presented in the temple at the purification of Mary after childbirth according to the law of Moses. This is last of the truly Christmas days that stretch out into Epiphany. This day marks the last of the Gospel lessons about the infancy of God's Son born of Mary. The ancient believers who greet Him that day remind us of the trial of His life and the suffering to come. The cross shadows even the last of the Christmas days. Merry Christmas, Christians!
Who's New?

The Kabele family joined MLC after moving to Houston from Southern California.

Heather grew up in Katy and wanted to come back to be nearer family and friends.  Charles grew up in Connecticut and is still adjusting to Houston summers.  Both Charles and Heather are litigation attorneys.  Trevor and Sophie are in first grade at Memorial Drive Elementary, and Chase is in Pre-K.  In their free time, the family likes to swim, play and watch sports, and ride bikes.

Welcome to the Kabele family. We are glad you are here at MLCS!

Memorial Lutheran School Students Place First in Bible Bowl Tournament!

Congratulations to the following students who won first place medals - Aislinn Bohot, Jose Cordero, Matthew Girma, Tyler Kinchen, Ariana Kunz, Natalie Ledesma, Ruth Martin, and Reese McDermott.  They won their first games against Lutheran South Academy (teams 1 and 2) and beat St. Mark Lutheran to take the championship.  We are so proud of our MLS students and their amazing Bible knowledge! Thank you to coach Sherry Kitchell who encouraged the students to practice and study! Thank you also to the parents who helped out.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.
