Vicar Install & Breakfast
Vicar Richardson will be installed during early and late services THIS Sunday, 2 July. Please join us between the services for a casual breakfast to greet our new vicar. To help make this possible the fellowship board is asking for breakfast casseroles. The casseroles will need to be delivered either before or during early service. Please contact Mike Jeffers or the church office 713 782 6079 if you are able to provide a casserole or if you can help assist with set-up or clean-up.
From the Vicar
Not Peace, but a Sword
This Sunday's Gospel lesson, Jesus talks about the Gospel. But He doesn't portray it in the warm and fuzzy way some preachers present it today. He says that He has come not to bring peace, but a sword. He says that sharing His Gospel won't be easy and calls us to take up our crosses. He calls us to bear the weight that comes with sharing His Word, you will be persecuted and reviled. But Christ also bears a cross. Upon His cross He gives His life for you and makes your burden easy and light by His death and resurrection. Even though the world reviles you for believing the Gospel, it is that very same Word, Christ Himself, which has saved you.
On a personal note, I wanted to thank you all for making this a wonderful year. God's blessings to you all and I hope our paths cross again one day.
