Wash Me!
The Junior and Senior youth groups (JYF and LYF) are having a car wash after late service on Sunday, 31 May. It will be in the parking lot next to the youth room (near Macaroni Grill). This is to raise funds for the upcoming Higher Things trip to Nevada. Please bring your dirty car and support the church's youth.
From the Pastor

This Sunday is both the Sunday between Ascension and Pentecost and Confirmation Sunday. Helpful to understanding both are Jesus' words from the Gospel where he says: I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

When it comes to the Apostles, when it comes to all disciples of Jesus, we know we are in the world (meaning physical location), but not of the world (meaning identity). Our being reckoned as "not of the world" is not the result of anything that we have done. In fact, we were once of the world specifically because of what we had done (original and actual sin). Due to Jesus' death and resurrection, due to his Word and his Baptism which bring the blessings of the Cross, we are no longer of the world, but are of Christ.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns

John 17:11b-19

Hymns: 818, 539, 622, 972, 617, 829
