From the Pastor
Not of the World
I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.-John 17

When it comes to the Apostles, when it comes to all the disciples of Jesus, we know that we are in the world (physical location), but not of the world (identity).  Our being identified as "not of the world" is not the due to anything we have done.  In fact, we were once of the world, because of what we had done (original and actual sin).  As the result of our Lord's life, death, and resurrection, as the result of the preaching and teaching of his holy Word, and as the result of the washing of holy Baptism, we are no longer of the world, but we are now of Christ.

blood drive
Blood Drive Results
A big thank you goes out to those of you who gave your time and/or blood this past Sunday.  Thanks to your generosity, MLC helped our regional blood bank stock up. Here is the break down for our blood drive:

13 successful donors & 14 products collected from 13 donors:
  •      10 whole blood
  •      4 automation (2 units from 2 donations which equals 4 units)
  •     A Total of 14 products
Each blood product can help save three lives, so that is 42 lives impacted!

Still interested in giving but couldn't make Sunday? Until the end of May, you can donate at any Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center location and give our donation code of 1999.
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
