From the Pastor
Pay Attention!
The calling from God in the second chapter of Hebrews is this: pay attention!  Pay attention to the Holy Gospel.  Pay attention to the blessed proclamation of the forgiveness of sins granted to sinners by God through the Word and the Sacraments not because of our efforts at keeping the law, but because of the perfect life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Whenever we are given this kind of a warning or exhortation, there is a reason.  The reason is that there is something of value or of worth that is in jeopardy, that is in peril.  God calls us to pay attention to the Holy Gospel because if we forget it, or neglect it, or reject it, we are forgetting, neglecting, and rejecting that which is most important: our redemption from sin and eternal life with God.
