From the Pastor
Reaching Out

Alleluia!  Christ is risen!  Easter is a season filled with proclamation of the power of Christ. So many people have fallen into the ditches of our decayed culture; exchanging the issues of ultimate concern for the irrelevant or peripheral. They no longer believe anything much, or worse yet, they will believe anything at all. The entertainment industry often anesthetizes the mind by distracting peoples' attention from life, death, and the spiritual things that make life worth living and death the portal of life. Tell them that Jesus lives. Reach out to them. What you know they need to know. Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia.

Who's New?

Stephen Hernandez was born and raised in Houston as a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. He recently completed his studies in Church Music and Theology at Concordia University Texas. Stephen will begin working for Cy-Fair ISD this summer.

Jamie Hernandez was raised in Austin, and grew up a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran, Cedar Park. She is also an alumnus of Concordia Texas, and is currently serving Epiphany Lutheran Church as Kindergarten Teacher.

Stephen and Jamie were welcomed into membership at the Easter Vigil Service. The Hernandezs chose MLC to be their home congregation for its faithfulness to the Holy Scriptures, the Lutheran Confessions; and its reverent practice of the Liturgy. Both are active in the Music Ministry of MLC, and are happy to be a part of the MLC family.

Sunday's Scripture Lessons
Nicaragua Clothing Collection

The Nicaragua mission team is seeking donations of warm-weather children's clothing to take to Nicaragua this summer. Many of the children we work with have only one set of clothing and no shoes. Your used warm-weather children's clothing will be an incredible blessing to these children. Please bring your donation to the church on any Sunday during May. These can be given directly to John Coulter. Please contact John at 832 264 4017 [email protected] with any questions you have regarding the Nicaragua mission.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
