Pastor Pacey Projecting a 15 December Announcement

jesus-profile.jpg
Pastor Ian Pacey, whom we called at a voters assembly on 24 November, is projecting that he will have a decision to announce on 15 December.

Please pray the Lord of the harvest that He would give wisdom and His Spirit to Pastor Pacey as he wrestles over and prays about the call to be Associate Pastor of Memorial Lutheran Church. Send us a man after Your own heart, O Lord!

Pink Advent Joy

Traditionally, Advent is punctuated by a "pink" Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent. You will notice, and perhaps rejoiced to see, the three purple and one pink candle have been returned to the Advent wreath of our church this year. But pink seems a strange color for a penitential season. The third Sunday of Advent relieves the penitential nature of the season with the clear joy that Christians have because Christ has come among sinners like us in the Child born of Mary. Paul tells us: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice" (Phil 4:4). There is so much to celebrate and rejoice about. There is nothing about which to be glum; it is truly a pink time.

Who's New?

Fred Bredthauer is our new member of the week. He was raised in the American Lutheran Church (ALC) but found himself a member of an ELCA congregation after the 1988 merge of 3 Lutheran churches, including the ALC. Prompted by changes within the ELCA, Fred began seeking a new church home. He has found LCMS doctrine aligns with his beliefs and he joined MLC 2 years ago. Although it has been difficult at times, he has found this transition to be most gratifying. Fred has been enjoying meeting other MLC members each week and hopes to meet more of his fellow members.

Welcome, Fred!
Please RSVP for Christmas Eve Quempas Carol!

The Quempas Carol is a beautiful tradition dating back to Medieval times. The choir is stationed at the four corners of the sanctuary, symbolizing the proclamation of the Good News of Christ's birth to the four corners of the world. Part of the choir also sings the story of Christ's birth from the balcony. This is a simple, beautiful way to sing with the choir! Older children and adults are encouraged to participate! If we do not have enough RSVPs, we may have to cancel this beautiful tradition.

If you are interested in singing the Quempas Carol at the 10:00 PM candlelight Service on Christmas Eve, or would like more information, please contact Cantor Muth at [email protected] or 713 782 6079.

Let Us Pray
For all who are suffering illness or are shut in at this time of the year, that the joy of the incarnation would be there joy

For first responders and other helpers, who will work through the Christmas holidays, that they would be kept safe in Christ their Lord

Thank You Carolers!

MLC's caroling outing to our shut-in members was a great success. We had 10 carolers total, including 5 youth and 3 young adults.  Anita sang along with the carolers and announced she enjoyed the company. Joyce also sang along joyfully and nodded when asked if she loves to sing. The last stop was Juanita who lit up with delight upon the carolers' arrival. She even recalled previous year's caroling visits fondly. THANK YOU to those of you that spent your afternoon spreading cheer. It means so much to our shut-in members.
