A Give-Away on Giving
The February 2014 Lutheran Witness publication spotlights Stewardship. It covers everything from what Stewardship means and includes to what it means to give life's resources for God's purposes. Whether you are already serving the church or are looking for ways in which to serve, this is a great read. This week, members of our Stewardship board will be in the Narthex handing out this Lutheran Witness publication after each service, one per family to those that request one. "Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he has obtained with his own blood." (Acts 20:28)
From the Vicar
Temple of the Most High
1 Corinthians 3:16, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?" What a great promise.  We who were unworthy and cast out of the presence of God, now have become the dwelling place of the Most High.  God's presence dwells wherever His name is placed.  After Solomon dedicates the Temple to the Lord, God says, "I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time" (1 Kings 9:3). In Holy Baptism God has placed His name on each of us.  With the water and the Word God has consecrated us as His temple.  This changes the way we look at one another.  We see one another as the dwelling place of God who Christ has purified with His blood.   It's not just a nice thought, it's our reality.  It's who we are: the temple of the Most High.
