MLC Voter's Assembly to Meet

Don't forget!  Our voter's assembly will be held on Monday the 24 March 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

From the Pastor
The Most Pressing Issue
This week the US Senate pulled an all-nighter to tell the American people, "We're not going to rest until there is action on the most pressing issue of our time..." What would that be? Something monumental, earth-shattering, and obvious. What is the most pressing issue of our time? It is the same problem we have always suffered: death! It is an intractable disease and everyone succumbs to it. I doubt, however, that the politicians can do anything about it, even if they might try. Only Jesus is able to defeat death, which He does--unexpectedly--by dying. In Lent we follow Jesus to see the most pressing issue of all time resolved by God's Son on the cross of Calvary. Oh, what did the US Senate think was the most pressing issue of our time.... "climate change." No, really! Perhaps they should try working on death.
Who's New?

Rev. Clayton and Debbie Campbell currently reside in Tomball, TX. They recently transferred to MLC from St. Paul Lutheran in Magnolia, TX.

Pastor Campbell recently concluded his ministry at St. Paul in December after serving there for over 17 years. He is currently on candidate status to receive a call. He enjoys cooking and dabbling in stained glass.

Debbie currently teaches 6th grade science in Tomball where she has taught for 26 years. She plays organ and enjoys sewing in her free time.

Welcome! We are glad to have you both at MLC.

Be an MLC Host or Hostess!

On Maundy Thursday, MLC will have a visiting choir for our 7:00 PM service. This choir is visiting from Concordia College, St.Paul, MN. There are 50 choir members and currently only 18 have been hosted. Please help by hosting a guest or two (or 4!) overnight in your home on 17 April, providing breakfast, and returning them to MLC by 8:00 AM morning of 18 April. These young musicians are wonderful, gracious guests- help them out! Contact Tessa tpernoud@mlchouston or 713 782 6079 to sign up.
