Summer Sunday School Needs YOUR Help!
Thank you for serving! Sign-up online here for the class/dates you would like to co-teach - one or more than one as your schedule permits. There will be two volunteers per class with the exception of the 2 year old class where parents attend with their kids, so you don't have to go it alone. A reminder e-mail will be sent and a copy of the lesson for each class you sign up for will be provided along with the Guidelines for Summer Sunday School. Must be 17 years old or older to sign up. Must sign MLC Youth Protection Policy prior to teaching. If we do not have all spaces filled by FRIDAY 27 May, at 12:00 PM then classes for Summer will be cancelled. Questions? Contact Rev. Gaub 713 782 4022 Chairman, Board of Parish Education.
From the Pastor
The Third Person
The third person of the holy Trinity enables us to see Christ through the eyes He opens, and to hear Christ through the ears He unstops. Like Adam, we have been created for fellowship, but our created faculties have been anesthetized into the sleep of death by the fall into sin. If we could hear God like Adam did, we would flee and hide because we are afraid, like Adam was. Only when the Gift, the Holy Spirit, is given is the faculty of fellowship opened to us. Only then do we seek God, because the Holy Spirit has sought and found us.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
Genesis 11:1-9
Hymns: 489, 617, 497, 768, 501, 503
Blind Mission Needs You!
You can make a difference at our congregation's Blind Outreach on Saturday 21 May. 40 vision-impaired people come via Metro buses and taxis to participate in a rich Bible study and prayer, appreciate a delicious lunch, and enjoy the loving attention of our volunteers. Jesus announced His life's purpose saying, "I am among you as one who serves." Following His example, you can greet and guide guests into the Fellowship Hall, get them seated, offer a variety of drinks, help the kitchen crew prepare food or later clean-up, accompany someone to the restroom, call them by name and let them hear you smile. Helpers are needed between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Come for as much time as you are able to offer. Please call Sylvia Atsinger 713 686 8018 to say you will come 21 May or any future 3rd Saturday of the month.
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
