The Two Natures
In Sunday's Gospel reading, Jesus has a conversation with a man about faith.  Jesus says: "All things are possible for one who believes."  The man responds: "I  believe; help my unbelief!"
Like the man, we are aware of our belief and our unbelief.  The reason we believe and yet don't believe is because Christians have two natures: the sin nature (whose origin is the Fall), and the redeemed nature (whose origin is the death and resurrection of Jesus).
Because we have these two natures, we are always at war with ourselves.  The things we want to do, we don't do and the things we don't want to do we do (Romans 7).
While possessing the two natures is a struggle, it does teach us two truths.  1. When it comes to sin, Christians still sin; 2. When it comes to salvation, it is still God's gift to us for Christ's sake.

Pastor Murray and Vicar will be  team teaching:
Making Lutheranism Great Again: The Formula of Concord.
After the death of Luther, there was theological uncertainty and division among Lutherans. This uncertainty and division was resolved by a clear confession of our faith in the Formula of Concord in 1577. In our day, surrounded as we are by debates and uncertainties, the Formula of Concord is again a wonderful resource for theological learning and biblical understanding.
