From the Vicar
The Unexpected King

Countries are always looking for the best leader, who would guide a reform of government.  The Jews sought a king who would lead a revolt in order to reestablish the kingdom of Israel.  We begin this Holy Week with a festive celebration focusing on "the King who comes in the name of the Lord" (Lk 19:38).  Christ is not the type of king anyone would expect.  He rules with humility and the power of his Word (Zech 9:9-10), and He dies for the sake of His people.  What other king would show this kind of love for their people?  None.  Rejoice!  Your King is coming to you, humble and having salvation!

Easter Lilies Are Available!

Plants are $9 each.

Call the church office at 713 782 6079 if you are interested in purchasing one in memory/honor of a loved one, as a gift for your secret pal, or even for yourself.

We are asking for the plants to remain in the church until after late service Easter Sunday 20 April 2014.

Blood Drive Sign Up
Dear Members of Memorial Lutheran Church,

Please join us in donating your blood in honor of Luke George, a lifelong member of Memorial Lutheran Church.  He is 6 and was diagnosed in December with Leukemia and has had several blood transfusions in these few short months.  The blood bank is in desperate need of donors to replenish them so people like Luke will continue to strive through treatments. If you will be at church on 4 May, please sign up at the table in the commons this weekend (13 April) or email Tessa because we need a at least 30 to secure the date and blood bank team.  Please take a few minutes of your time to make this wonderful cause a precious memory for Luke!

Thank you,

The George Family
