From the Vicar
It is often frustrating to think of the Tower of Babel, and how at that moment of our sinfulness, all unity in our language was taken away. If only we had not been so filled with hubris we might still have that unity and understanding with each other; all people and all nations speaking in one tongue.
This makes our reading in Acts so powerful. We see a sign of the unity brought by God, by the working of his Holy Spirit, through the works of Jesus Christ; all people speaking in one tongue. Through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit we are given a foretaste of the complete unity that will be in the new creation. There will be no misunderstanding or confusion.

In our baptism we receive this great gift, experience a foretaste of this unity at the Lord's Table where all people are made one in Jesus body and blood, and hear the promise of its inevitable completion preached in the Word. We await this perfect peace with joyful hearts.

Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns

John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15

Hymns: 913, 617, 497, 501, 500, 650

Wash Me!
The Junior and Senior youth groups (JYF and LYF) are having a car wash after late service on Sunday, 31 May. It will be in the parking lot next to the youth room (near Macaroni Grill). This is to raise funds for the upcoming Higher Things trip to Nevada. Please bring your dirty car and support the church's youth.
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
