MLS Goal Met!

Each week during chapel, MLS students have been contributing towards Pastor St-Onge and his family. MLS has been representing each $10 donation as a catechism, in order for the children to have a more concrete representation of the progress. Last week, $50.25 was offered, which brought the total MLS contributions to $6,250.00 Way to go MLS!

That's 625 catechisms! Congratulations!  What a great year for the MLS students!

From the Pastor
Verdant Days

The days after the feast of the holy Trinity are days of constant growth. The Lord gives His Word and the seed sprouts and "grows and yields a hundredfold" (Luke 8:8). The vestments and paraments are green; the color of growth. Now we focus on the work of the Spirit in His church. The Lord has placed the seed of His Word in our hands. Now is the time of sowing the seed. Share the seed with those around you. The Lord Jesus will not let it return to Him empty, because He gives the growth.

Who's New?

Ann Lowe joined MLC on Easter Vigil after her son-in-law, a LCMS pastor in South Dakota, encouraged her to attend Adult Instruction with Pastor Murray. Ann grew up Baptist and feels that the classes help her as she gets to know Jesus. She continues to listen to the classes on our website to strengthen her knowledge and faith.

Ann is a life-long Houstonian and grew up in the Rice University area but has lived all over this great city. She lives with her husband, John, and spends time with her mother and sister who are also in the Houston area.

Ann is a dog-person and enjoys spending her time with her Black Mouth Cur named Archie. She is also a major supporter of mentorship and feels it is important in a Christian's life. And last, but not least, she loves to bake cakes and hopes to share some of her baked goods with our congregation.

We are certainly glad to welcome Ann to MLC!

Concordia University Chicago Update

As you may be aware, the Board of Regents of Concordia University Chicago elected Dr. Daniel Gard of Fort Wayne, IN as its eleventh president. Founded in 1864, the university is celebrating an anniversary year by installing a new leader in office. Pastor Murray is grateful that the leading of the Spirit has permitted him to remain here as Pastor of Memorial Lutheran Church. He requests your prayers for Dr. Gard, who will have to accept or decline his call by 14 June. Now let's seek God's will for our congregation, now that the church's leadership is remaining stable.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
