We Have Peace with God
So much of what we see every day smacks of rage, anger, animosity, and death. The world obviously has no idea what to do about this. Rage will never stop death. Rage might even cause death. The church of Jesus Christ has taken care of this in Christ's death for the world. St. Paul puts it so simply, "Since we have been justified from faith, we have peace with God." This is why we want our pastors to say to us "I forgive you all your sins." And they can say this because absolution says to us what is true: "God has made peace with us, even while we still sinners."
