From the Pastor
Your Church Family
Families are so important to us. Our family has celebrated a number of important events over the last six weeks; a wedding, a couple of receptions (one here and one in St. Louis), and an honorific event at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. The family delights to gather together. That's also true in our Christian lives. When Martin Luther talks about the means of grace in the Smalcald Articles he includes what he calls the mutual conversation and consolation of the brethren (SA 3.4). Worship day, then, is being gathered in the house of our Father to be encouraged by our brothers and sisters in Christ. A Christian family is also so important to us. What a great family we have here at Memorial Lutheran Church, Houston!

Give Life & Mark Your Calendar
The last few Mays, we held blood drives and MLC members had all-time record donations. We're changing it up and holding our blood drive in February.  One of our very own, Marcheta Beasely, recently went through successful heart surgery. This blood drive will be in her honor.  Let's give thanks for her health- please consider donating blood on Sunday 12 February. Mark your calendar- stay tuned for sign-up!
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
