From the Pastor
Sharing the Word
"Jesus has done all things well" (Mark 7:37).
The internet is an incredible tool for the good of the church and her proclamation of the Word of God. This week we had a guest in the young adults' Bible class who found us by searching the internet for a Bible study in Houston. This email newsletter would have been impossible just a few years ago. We now can communicate with God's people using the internet, while saving considerable sums on postage, copying, and paper. We look forward to your input on features and articles you would like to see. X
Who's New?
Our Lord Jesus has brought a growing community of believers together here at Memorial Lutheran Church. Pastor Murray is teaching a library full of participants in Adult Instruction. We will provide a regular feature of new members with a little biographical information. Today, we will feature a family most of you know, Pastor Sagar and Malini Pilli, and their daughter Michelle. Sagar and Malini Pilli were born and raised in India. While Malini is a pharmacy professional, Sagar is passionate about confessional Lutheranism and currently involved in starting a Telugu ministry at Memorial. Their only daughter Michelle Alika is three years old and attending Memorial Lutheran School. Pastor Pilli is an ordained minister of the LCMS, graduating from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis with an M.Div. X
Capital Campaign
Capital Campaign
We are now half way through the capital campaign, A Memorial for the People. Your gifts continue to come in. Because of your generosity, we are close to having our construction loan paid off. Once we do your contributions will start to reduce the principle owed on the mortgage. Don't forget to attend the Campaign Celebration event on 6 October, when a celebratory lunch will be offered after late service. You can hear about the campaign then. Everyone is welcome, even if they haven't made a pledge! X
Call Committee Making Progress
Your call committee gathered for the third face-to-face meeting on Monday 23 September. They were able to sort through the candidates for the office of Associate Pastor, reducing a large slate to four candidates. The committee is arranging phone interviews with the candidates. Please pray that the committee is shaped by the will of our heavenly Father, so that the man he wants us to have is presented to God's people for election. X
Thank you for your gracious support of the ministry of Memorial Lutheran Church and School. The Lord Jesus has been overwhelmingly gracious to us in these days. Pray for His continued blessings that His gospel would continue to be preached among us.

If you have suggestions about things that should be in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
