Come one and all for Mercer’s Winter Carnival which is tonight from 6:00-8:00 p.m.! Mercer students and their families have a chance to enjoy a variety of activities like inflatables, games, carnival themed activities and yummy treats! This is a great way to spend time on a wintry Friday evening. Remember that students must be accompanied by an adult while they are in attendance. 
 
Our celebration of the Chinese New Year will take place on Tuesday, February 13 from 9:30-10:00 a.m. in the Auditorium. We will recognize 2018 as the Year of the Dog, which is the 11th animal in the Chinese Zodiac. People born in this year are loyal, honest and popular! Tang L ǎoshī has prepared a wonderful program of Chinese cultural music, poetry and dance. Be certain to join us if your schedule allows.
 
Mercer Students created an amazing Black History Month Heroes with Heart tribute in the Action Gallery hallway off the Auditorium. The students were inquirers as they researched their subjects and were communicators by putting together sheets containing interesting information and IB attributes of their heroes. Check out their work the next time you visit!
 
I want to give parents another friendly reminder to send your student properly dressed for winter outdoor recess so they can enjoy their recess time and get outside to enjoy the fresh air and time with friends.
 






 


The Mercer Winter Carnival is TONIGHT! Friday, February 9th!
The Mercer Winter Carnival will be held on Friday, February 9th from 6-8 pm! Please join us for some fun, food and games! There will be an inflatable slide, obstacle course, bounce house and basketball shoot-around! Come make a reindeer hat, snowman bookmark, toilet paper tube polar bear, magic color scratch winter ornament and a snowflake sun catcher! There will also be a Bake Walk (school favorite), face painting and balloon twisting by Flower Clown and Jojo! If you are hungry, you can grab some pizza, cotton candy and popcorn! We will also have a 50/50 Raffle ($1 ticket/raffle) and there is no need to be present to win! Admission is FREE! Tickets for food, raffle and some of the activities will be sold for $1 each. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Don't miss the fun!!! BAKED GOODS FOR THE BAKE WALK! Please bring cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cakes, donuts, or anything your child loves to eat! (No need to make them yourself.) Please drop off baked goods in the Auditorium today by 5:30 p.m. Thank you!!!

Mix It Up! Mixers at Woodbury for Rising 5th Graders
All rising 5th grade students are invited to participate in social activities designed to make meeting Woodbury classmates from all five K-4 buildings easy and fun! The first gathering is on Thursday February 15 from 6-7:30 pm at Woodbury Main Gym. The next events take place at the same time and location on March 8 and March 15. Students may attend one, two or all three sessions. Stay tuned for more details via backpack express next week!   
 
New Date for Movie Night! Friday, March 9th
Mercer Movie Night will be on Friday, March 9th! We hope to see your families there to see the movie “Sing”!! Doors open at 6:30 pm with the movie starting promptly at 7:00 pm. Pizza, popcorn, candy and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be available for purchase. Please note: Parents MUST accompany their children.

Collecting Thank You cards
Mercer’s 4 th Grade Service Corps is in need of unused Thank You cards. The students hope to collect enough for every child in the school. If you have any cards you are willing to donate, please send them to school with your child. THANK YOU!
