Mercy Alumnae E-Newsletter
December 2016
News from Carolyn Witte

Dear Mercy Alumnae,
I have shared some news with the staff, students, and parents here at Mercy that I now wish to share with all of you. I will retire at the end of this contract year (June 30, 2017).
I am very much at peace with my decision, feel very good about the strength of the school, and am happy to be able to depart when things are good. The time is right.  I was first a Mercy student, then an alumna, a faculty member, a department chairperson, a principal, and even a Mercy parent. I can honestly say that I have seen things from many perspectives.  Except for my first three years of teaching, my entire career has been at this marvelous school (42 of 45 years, the final 16 as principal).
I have always believed that I work with the very best - colleagues who are devoted to the young women we serve; parents who support their daughters; students who, like yourselves, still represent a generation of intelligent, hard working, and compassionate people. It is my privilege to be counted among them. One thing remains true, year after year and decade after decade - Mercy students are magnificent young women, and the world benefits enormously from who each one is and what each one will do.
I look forward to all that is ahead during the remainder of this school year and beyond.
