Nurture spirituality. Foster compassion. Engage in service.
October Theme: Death

I'm excited to announce that C.U.C. will soon be acquiring copies of the hymnal supplement, Singing the Journey.

The 75-hymn supplement includes the hymns we have lately been singing from photocopied inserts: "Blue Boat Home," "When the Spirit Says Do," "The Fire of Commitment," "When Our Heart Is In a Holy Place," etc.

To pay for the new hymnal supplements, starting in November, we'll be inviting you to contribute to have hymnals dedicated. For $18 per hymnal, a dedicatory bookplate will be affixed inside the cover indicating that the hymnal is a gift from you. You can also indicate that the gift is "In memory of" or "In honor of" a special person in your life. Stay tuned!

Practice of the Week: Put Out Fires

"If something's urgent - such as a clogged toilet, a letter from the IRS, a lump in an armpit - most people will get after it right away. But what if it's important-but-not-urgent - an issue or goal that you can always put off dealing with for one more day? It's easy to let these fires smolder - but in the end, they're the ones that usually cost you the most." READ MORE...

Worship Oct 12, 10:00am: Expanding the Circle

Rev. Meredith Garmon

Where do we draw the line between who has inherent worth and dignity and who doesn't? Moral progress is always the story of increasing inclusion.

Sunday's Music: Jazz pianist Marie-Fatima Rudolf and bassist Alec Safy will grace our worship. More on this Sunday's music: CLICK HERE.
10:00 - Prelude - Three jazz numbers played by Rudolf and Safy

Worship Oct 19, 10:00am: Gratitude and Absent Friends

Rev. Meredith Garmon

Gratitude is the most basic of spiritual practices and the foundation upon which spiritual development is possible. Why? And what if the people for whom we're grateful never know it?
Music: UU Singer/Songwriter (and composer of several hymns in our hymnal) Jim Scott will be with us to sing and lead us in singing.

Let us know more about what programs, workshops, and activities you would like to see in Adult RE, as well as any special interests, knowledge, or talents you would like to share with CUC. Please contact me anytime and let's discuss the possibilities. To read my Ponderings on Adult RE, CLICK HERE.
