Nurture spirituality. Foster compassion. Engage in service.
January Theme: Justice

Bring a Friend this Sunday (Jan 25)! There's still time to invite someone to come with you to CUC. Of course, it's great to invite a friend to church on any Sunday. Jan 25 is a particularly good day to do so because: (a) they'll be among lots of other newcomers too, and (b) I'll be preaching an "Introduction to UU" sermon. It's a good day for your friends to begin getting to know CUC!

Journey Groups

Our Journey Groups this month, on the theme of Justice, will give you the chance to reflect on what justice does and could mean to you. See the monthly packet: CLICK HERE.

Practice of the Week: Fall in Love

Try this with your spouse -- or a prospective spouse. Or try it with any friend if the two of you are game for being drawn closer together. It's a remarkably effective procedure for two people to develop closeness in a about an hour or two. For people on a first date, the process almost always makes them feel better about each other and want to see each other again. READ MORE...

It will be good to see so many of you who we missed due to the weather last Sunday. It was special to spend the time at CUC with those who were able to be there and, at the same time, I am very glad those of you who were not with us made the safe choice for you and your families. We are always a welcoming congregation, but this Sunday we give an extra special welcome to your visiting friends. Please see the following four (4) announcements:

1) SHARE THE LOVE!

Sunday, January 25th

BRING A FRIEND TO CUC

UUs don't proselytize...
but we do share our sense of community, inclusiveness, and spiritual searching.

2) This Sunday at 10 a.m. Children in K-4th grade begin in Fellowship Hall for Children's Worship. 5th-12th grade children and youth begin in their classrooms.

Then after the service this Sunday:
  • RE information table for guests, as well as anyone who wants to know more.
  • UU Roots meeting to introduce people to Unitarian Universalism.
  • UU Roots for Kids, gathering at the same time as the adults in the sanctuary, with a fun CUC tour.
3) Stitching In Spirit - Sunday, Feb. 1 at 11:45 a.m.
A CUC Adult RE Workshop led by Community Minister Rev. Kelly Murphy Mason

For millennia, fiber arts and handicrafts have figured significantly in people's communal and spiritual lives. Come join affiliated minister and avid crocheter Kelly Murphy Mason in this exploration of what it might mean to our faith community to be "stitching in spirit."
Please feel free to bring with you any handicrafting projects you might have underway - or else just bring an open and inquiring mind. Everyone is welcome.

4) Teacher Development Day
Sunday, February 8 from 8:15-9:45 a.m.
      • Learn more ways to engage the children
      • Further your classroom management techniques
      • Connect your UU identity to teaching

This Sunday, I look forward to welcoming newcomers and those of you who have already made CUC your spiritual home. It will be wonderful to share the morning with you all.

Sincerely,
-Perry
