   What have we been up to this month?
Volunteers serve at Habitat for Humanity
   
Getting up early on a Saturday was well worth it! CVs gathered together for a quarterly service project. This time, volunteers had the amazing opportunity to DEMOLISH A HOUSE with Habitat for Humanity in Orlando.  
 

 

Throughout their service, Habitat for Humanity purchases foreclosed homes at a terrific price. With the valuable work and expertise of Habitat's volunteers and staff, they are able to transform these homes into affordable living spaces. CVIF met up with a Habitat team to help complete the demolition on a home by tearing down ceilings, insulation, electrical wiring, a back porch roof, and the air conditioning duct.

 CVIF Staff threw the party in appreciation of the volunteers, and to help create a family atmosphere in a time where many CVs are away from their families.  We feasted on a fried turkey (courtesy of Mr. "Mac" Amica's famous recipe) along with traditional Holiday Dinner sides. Volunteers made some delicious desserts and appetizers. We sang a couple Christmas carols by the "crackling fire", passed out Christmas stockings, and enjoyed everyone's company.  We missed our DR volunteers but saved a stocking for each of them!















 
CVIF CELEBRATES 30 YEARS!
Don't forget to Save the Date for our Anniversary Event!

When: February 7, 2014 from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm
Where: St. James Cathedral School, Assembly Hall
Cost: $35 per ticket, or $25 with college I.D.

Come join us and SAK as we highlight the laughable events that have made our program so amazing over the last 3 decades. Event starts at 6:30 with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, 50/50 raffle, and a photo booth! At 8 pm we are excited to present "Duel of Fools" Improv Comedy by SAK Comedy Club. And most importantly, we will be honoring one of our amazing alumni with a "O'Neill Lifetime Service Award". Call our office to reserve tickets 407-426-7771.
