A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
                                                                                                        April 12, 2016

Dear Nativity School of Worcester Community,

As you are aware, our President Alex Zequeira will be stepping down at the end of the school year to assume the Headmaster position at Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury, Mass. Following this announcement in February, a committee of the Board of Trustees decided to name an interim president for the 2016-17 school year. The Board and I felt strongly that our community needed time to pause and discern our needs and who we wanted to lead Nativity School of Worcester in the future. I am very pleased to announce that Patrick T. Maloney, who currently serves as our Vice President for Advancement, has been named interim president.

Patrick is a very familiar face at Nativity Worcester, having led the school’s development efforts for the last five years. During that time, overall donations to the school have risen over 140 percent, from $1.1 million to $2.7 million. Additionally, The school’s annual donor base now exceeds 800 donors.. Through our conversations, it was clear to the Board of Trustees that he is widely respected by all stakeholders in the Nativity Worcester community and enjoys wonderful relationships with students, staff, graduates, and families. Patrick has a capacity for leadership that is both thoughtful and collaborative.  He is someone to whom faculty and staff easily turn to when they are in need of support. I know that our Nativity Men will be happy to have an interim president who is a familiar presence in the hallways, always greeting our boys, and someone who is able to continue to deliver all of the hallmarks of a Nativity Worcester education. Our commitment is to maintain our high standards during the transition while looking ahead to a promising future.

Nativity School of Worcester will also benefit from having an interim leader who has a keen understanding of the school and the City of Worcester.  Patrick has spent his entire life as a resident of Worcester and has a clear sense of what it takes to be a successful leader in this community.  Patrick is a graduate of Saint’s John’s High School and the College of the Holy Cross, and is committed to this city.  Outside of his responsibilities at Nativity Worcester, he is most recently involved as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Matthew 25, an organization committed to providing food and housing relief to those in need, and as one of just 25 participants in Leadership Worcester, a community-focused leadership development program organized by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.  He and his wife and two children live here in Worcester.

I have spoken with Alex Zequeira about Patrick’s appointment and he has great confidence that Patrick is well positioned to lead the school next year.  Alex and Patrick have a terrific working relationship, and I am confident that the transition will be seamless.  Patrick will assume the role of interim president beginning on July 1, 2016.  The Board of Trustees will begin a national search in the fall for a permanent president of Nativity School of Worcester to begin on July 1, 2017.

                                                      Sincerely yours,
                                                      J. Christopher Collins
                                                      Chairman, Board of Trustees
