It's been a while since Meyer Group, PC has showcased our work. We have been hard at work finishing projects and starting up brand new projects. Here is a recap of the projects that we've completed.

Commercial Projects
Junction Inn
Babbitt, MN 

Meyer Group was hired by Gary Burow of Babbit, MN to develop a design for a 20 room hotel featuring a large meeting space for events and gatherings of all kinds. The hotel is to be located just next door to Junction Bar & Grill, which is owned by Gary as well. The hotel offers an "up north" style with a stone fire place, large timber frames and rustic decorations. Additional considerations include: the incorporation of accessible rooms and bathrooms for guests, planning for future expansion and the accommodation of parking space for vehicles from snowmobiles to 
18-wheeler's.

Twin Ports Wellness
Superior, WI

Meyer Group assisted Twin Ports Wellness Center in creating a new home on Tower Avenue in south Superior.  Work included an interior renovation of an existing structure. Meyer Group assisted in providing code compliance, space planning, interior design & 
exterior renovation.

Leech Lake Opiate Treatment Center
Cass Lake, MN


Meyer Group worked with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in creating new facilities for their Opiate Treatment Programs, for band members living in the Cass Lake Area. The new facility included health, laboratory & counseling facilities. The new facility will double the size of existing facilities locates in downtown Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Kinnamon School Restoration

Cass Lake, MN


 

Meyer Group, in association with Miller-Dunwiddie Architects in Minneapolis were selected to work with the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Chippewa to preserve the Kinammon School, located in the Lac Courte Oreilles community. Unoccupied since 1967, Kinammon School educated many Lac Courte Oreilles Band members and was a fixture in the LCO community. Following preservation work, the school will be adaptively re-used as a Cultural & Visitors Center. Other team members include Coleman Engineering of Ironwood, MI, Cain-Thomas Associates of White Bear Lake, MN & Northland Consulting Engineers.
 

LCO Boys & Girls Club
Hayward, WI

LCO Boys & Girls Club broke ground this Spring on the new Boys & Girls Club Addition & Renovation project. Meyer Group Architecture provided Fundraising, Architecture, Interior Design & Project Management assistance on the project. The new addition & renovated existing facility shall provide new administrative & control areas, a Demonstration Kitchen, Outdoor Classroom Area, new Program Areas & upgrade interior finishes. The project also includes addition of acoustical treatment and a new garage to house the Clubs vehicles & maintenance equipment. The project is slated for December 2015 completion. The project is being constructed by LCO Development, the Band's own construction company, performing work in a Design/Build relationship with Meyer Group Architecture.
Government Projects


Ely City Hall
Ely, MN

The City of Ely has proposed to renovate its historic 1930 Art Deco style City Hall building. Meyer Group was hired by JPJ Engineering of Hibbing, MN to develop Construction Documents for the project. Part of the renovation of the City Hall, located on East Chapman Street, includes an addition to the historic structure that provides an accessible entrance to the building, enclosed stair tower, elevator and Police Department garage. The addition shall complement the Art Deco design, rather than compete with it, by being clad in metal plate wall panels of a contrasting color while still maintaining the scale and proportion of the existing building. The existing interior space of the building shall be remodeled in order to provide modern amenities, to efficiently house its tenants and to better serve the public. The utmost care shall be taken to preserve and protect all existing woodwork, decorative plaster and historic fixtures and finishes. Additional considerations include: the selection of maintenance free sustainable building materials, new energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, user comfort and building security.

Ely Public Library
Ely, MN

The City of Ely has proposed to build a brand new, state-of-the-art, library. Meyer Group was hired by JPJ Engineering of Hibbing, MN to develop a concept for the new stand-alone facility. Located across the street from the historic Ely City Hall, the Library design includes a children's area, cozy seating nooks, private study rooms and a public meeting space. Additional considerations include: the selection of maintenance free sustainable building materials, the desire for natural light, patron comfort and security and pedestrian access.


 


Superior/Douglas County Animal Shelter 
Superior, WI

Meyer Group Architecture, in association with Animal Arts Inc. of Boulder, Colorado, is providing Contract & Construction Administration Services to the City of Superior on the new Superior / Douglas County Animal Shelter,  in Superior, Wisconsin. Meyer Group's responsibilities included construction observation, contract administration & project management through the Construction Phase of the project. The facility is scheduled to open in August of 2016. The new facility is a consolidation of City & County owned facilities & will be a state of the art animal care & adoption facility.

UMD- Heaney Hall & UMD- Griggs Hall now has a new look. This summer's re-roofing project was recently completed on behalf of UMD-Facilities Management & UMD-Housing. Thank you to University of Minnesota Duluth for using Meyer Group Architecture to assist in this project.
