Hello from MiKE

Hi everybody! There's some pretty cool stuff in this newsletter including a link to a TEDx conference where a sixth-grader talks about the apps he has developed. (Bustin Jeiber anyone?) He's funny and engaging and could quite possibly be the next Steve Jobs.

Don't forget about the free hackathon and mobile app development sessions that are taking place at OPEN MiKE and Bucketworks December 2-4. There's more information below.

And finally, it's the season for being thankful, and we want to thank you for your support in building and growing MiKE.

Happy Thanksgiving!

MiKE's Blog

MiKE posts a brand new blog each month on the ArtPlace website (ArtPlace is the organization that funded MiKE). Check out the November entry right here:
Fun Stuff We've Found

As the MiKE team searches for ways to create innovation in Milwaukee, we often come across articles about cool new technologies or videos of inspiring speakers. Here are a few including a New York Times article that features a light bulb app made right here in Wisconsin, and video of a sixth-grade developer who wants an app club at schools, much like a French or drama club. He's a really good speaker for being so young so check it out. Finally, skip the change, just swipe! The Salvation Army Bell Ringers have gone digital.

Mark Your Calendar!

Startup MKE December Meetup @ The Hudson, 310 N. Broadway

Join us for StartupMKE's December meetup. We're still working on our line-up of MKE Startups that will be presenting but we wanted to put this out there so you can start to save the date.

We can already tell you that Joe Poeschl of Junto (an online incubator + crowdfunding site) will be presenting at the meetup learn more about them at: http://thejun.to/

We are also looking forward to author Stacy Riedel, a true entrepreneur in her own right, who will be speaking about an author's path to becoming published. The story of the writers' path to success is almost parallel to that of a startup company's.

And, of course, we'll be providing free beer at this meetup event!
