Boy Scouts will experience hands on study and work with Merit Badge Counselors and USDA officials as they learn and earn the Insect Study Merit Badge. This badge is one of the requirements to earn the Dr, Bernard Harris SuperNOVA Award - and this opportunity will fill fast, so book the date and register now! Event runs Noon to 4:00 pm in Brighton at the USDA labs and is open to all Boy Scouts.
CUB SCOUT "Science of Skating"
Science Everywhere Nova Award @ Roll Haven Skating Arena

Scouts will learn about the parts of a roller skate and their function, and
will learn how to work together on planning and strategies needed to rebuild a disassembled roller skate through hands on activities. Scouts will have the opportunity to explore ways to improve the design of a roller skate or roller blade components using the principles of Science and Engineering.
Michigan Science Center (Detroit)

Nova Counselors and Michigan Science Center instructors will work together to provide a hands on experience for Cub Scouts, Webelos, and Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts and Webelos will get hands learning while achieving the Nova 1-2-3 Go! award in the morning sesson. The afternoon Nova Award sessions for Boy Scouts will be Designed to Crunch and Numbers Don't Lie. All participating Scouts will have an outstanding practical experience as they work on these awards. Only 60 spots for each session - register now!

Ann Arbor Hands on Museum

Join the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum for an evening of science and engineering. Work on your NOVA Swing! Award as you discover all of the exciting exhibits the museum has to offer. Cub Scouts and their families will enjoy exclusive after-hours access to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum including 250+ exhibits, dinner, and a NOVA Swing! Award Workshop. $30/Scout, $25 for parents and siblings.
Environmental Science and Chemistry Merit Badge Day
Hope College - Holland, MI
November 12, 2016
Scouts will spend the day earning either the Environmental Science or the Chemistry Merit Badge in a state of the art facility, led by Hope College instructors. This full day course fee includes a snack, all program materials and supplies, and will have Merit Badge Counselors on site to facilitate and sign your blue cards.
A free parent information meeting and a Nova Counselor Training will take place from 9:00 - 10:00 am for all adults interested in learning more about the STEM Nova Program and the MCC STEM Program for Scouts. We will also offer the Nova Counselor Training for anyone wishing to become a Counselor for their unit.

Experiment with methods of lifting heavy loads with ease, identify simple machines at the park, and create an item that will complete a chore for you. Cub Scouts will be working on their Swing! NOVA Award, and Boy Scouts & Venturers will be focusing on the Whoosh! NOVA Award. $10/Scout
